Background

The Ontario - Toronto New Deal reached in November 2023 included an agreement between the City and the Province on a set of core commitments in exchange for over $4 billion in financial support to the City. Council approved the terms of the Ontario - Toronto New Deal Working Group on December 13, 2023.” The city deems it necessary to provide Metrolinx, the transportation company responsible for construction, “properties and easements to advance construction of Eglinton Crosstown West Extension (ECWE), tunnels, elevated guideway and stations and to support Transit Oriented Communities (TOC) along the ECWE corridor".

Item Description

Transferring property ownership of City-Owned land at Royal York Road, Islington Avenue, and Martin Grove Road along Eglinton Avenue to Metrolinx. This transfer is intended to facilitate construction “for the purpose of supporting Transit Oriented Communities to be located along the Eglinton Crosstown West Extension”.
