Land Acknowledgement
The Climate Voting Records Project Work Group acknowledges that this website has been built on the traditional territory of many nations including the Mississaugas of the Credit, the Anishnabeg, the Chippewa, the Haudenosaunee and the Wendat peoples. Toronto (Tkaronto) has the largest Indigenous population in Ontario and has the 4th largest Indigenous population of any city in Canada. The Voting Records website tracks reconciliation policies that go through City Council and how councillors are voting on them. In addition, Indigenous land defenders are some of the most effective actors against the Climate Crisis, and in order to address the global climate emergency the City of Toronto must decolonize and share its decision-making power. For more information, please read this article by Indigenous Climate Action and donate to the frontline Wet'suwet'en land defenders. Please also consider donating to Miziwe Biik and Aboriginal Legal Services in Tkaronto.
